From December 1 to 11, 1923, Barcelona organized the first World Championships in any sports discipline ever played in Spain. Thanks to the absolute cooperation of the political, social and sports spheres of Barcelona, the World Indoor Tennis Championships, held at the Palacio de la Industria in the Ciutadella Park, were a resounding success.
