Luís Sánchez López, coordinator of the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic Studies Center, has been awarded a Doctorate in History from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). His doctoral thesis, titled “Olympism and Archives: Preserving the Documentary Legacy of the Olympic Games. Case Studies: Los Angeles 1984, Barcelona 1992, and London 2012,” explores the preservation of Olympic archives and was supervised by Dr. Mª Pilar Cid.
The evaluation panel, comprising Dr. Xavier Pujadas (Universitat Ramon Llull), Dr. Remei Perpinyà (UAB), and Dr. Àlex López (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya), awarded the thesis with an excellent mark, highlighting its rigor and significance in the fields of history and archival studies.
Sánchez holds a degree in History from UAB and a master’s in archival studies and records management from ESAGED, a background he has enriched through his role in coordinating Olympic archives, contributing to the preservation and dissemination of the Olympic Games’ legacy.
