In commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the 1992 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Barcelona, the Barcelona Olympic Foundation has collected the testimony of 30 protagonists of different fields that made those Games possible.

The documentary “30 views, 30 years later” recounts through various voices how events developed and what vicissitudes had to solve to carry out what Joan Antoni Samaranch called “the best Games in history”

Thirty years after their epic 10,000m, and the highly symbolic victory lap, Derartu Tulu – the first black African woman to win an Olympic gold medal – and Elana Meyer – who won the first medal for South African when they were re-admitted to the Olympic Games in 1992 after a ban lasting 32 years – met again today in Barcelona.

Elana Meyer donated to the Museu Olimpic I de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch the neutral flag with which she ran the legendary that “26^th lap”, which was to be the defining moment of the Barcelona 1992 Games.

Both athletes signed the flag, and Elana wrote on it:

Friendships, Peace, Perseverance

Those moments of deep friendship, of building bridges and spontaneous connection through sport were on show in Barcelona in 2022 just as they were in 1992.

On 25 July the Olympic Museum will hold an open day (free admission) so you can enjoy the sport and culture.

20.15h in the Saló de Cent of the Barcelona City Council, the institutional event will be held with Olympic and Paralympic guests and others personalities.

Barcelona’s Cultural Olympiad consisted of a four-year programme of cultural initiatives in the city, which culminated in the 1992 Olympic Arts Festival. The main objective of the Cultural Olympiad was to promote Barcelona’s artistic heritage and, for four years, to turn it into a cultural centre of maximum international promotion. The Olympic ideals of peace, dialogue, fraternity and cultural exchange were at the heart of the Cultural Olympiad. This programme, in addition to including cultural events, was also intended to promote the international dissemination of Barcelona and encourage dialogue among the countries who were to take part in the 1992 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Through this exhibition, and on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the 1992 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Barcelona Olympic Foundation seeks to pay tribute to the Cultural Olympiad and to all the people who took part in it.

June 13 marks 30 years since the arrival of the Olympic Flame in Empúries.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Barcelona Olympic Games. This event is still remembered today as a great collective success that went beyond the merely sporting event and generated a great economic, urban and social change. With this exhibition, CASA SEAT wants to pay tribute to the citizen impulse and the spirit of union and public-private collaboration that made this great city bet a winning option.

In this exhibition, curated by Claudia Crego, you can enjoy of installations created by the artist Ramón los Heros and pieces from the collections of Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport, Associació Voluntaris 2000 and SEAT Coches Históricos.

Free admission during the opening hours of the space.

The audiovisual projections of the Opening cCremony will be active through the Festhome platform

Workshop divided into two parts: in the first, they will discover different elements that were used for the Barcelona Games (Olympic and Paralympic mascot, emblems, ceremonies, volunteering, etc.) and they will learn how the city changed to host the Games. In the second, depending on the educational level, they will have to create a poster or mascot of a Games based on what they have discovered and on given parameters.
This activity is carried out through discovery, cooperation, play and critical thinking.

Once the workshop is over, the group can freely access the museum.

Can be supplemented with the activity:”A Stadium for history”.
