This book aims to provide a historical insight into the Olympics in Spain, placing value on all the events and people from different fields, who, throughout over a century, have contributed to its dissemination, development and strength. It is, therefore, an overview ranging from its origins to the present day. It delves into the history of the Spanish Olympic movement, its official bodies and the sporting events held in our country such as: the Olympic Games, the Mediterranean Games, the meetings held by the International Olympic Committee and the activities it carries out, along with the role played by Spanish athletes, leaders and educators.

This valuable historical record has been commissioned and coordinated by the Barcelona Olympic Foundation, with the participation of researchers and collaborators from several of the country’s most active Olympic Study Centres.
